JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono estimates that spraying on a number of protocol roads in fire engines can routinely reduce air pollution.

"Earlier, I asked for a discussion with the Minister of Environment and Forestry, he said that the watered road would make it easier to lower PM 2.5," Heru said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, August 26.

Heru said that the spraying was still being seen and evaluated by the Regional Government (Pemda) and the Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK) Siti Nurbaya.

"I am waiting for the results and the opinion from the Minister, if it is positive we will continue to run it. If there is a negative, we will stop it," said Heru.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) has deployed at least 20 fire engines to spray on a number of capital city protocol sections in order to reduce air pollution.

"Regarding the pollution handling, the Fire Department started yesterday, has deployed 20 fire engines with 200 (people) personnel who will do the watering," said Heru while inspecting the Jakarta Integrated Highway, Bogor, Depok, Bekasi (LRT Jabodebek) in Jakarta, Friday (25/8).

The watering is carried out twice a day, namely in the morning at 10.00 WIB and during the day at 14.00 WIB.

There are a number of roads that will be sprayed in Jakarta, including Cawang (East Jakarta), Blok M (South Jakarta), Horse Statue (Central Jakarta) and Slipi (West Jakarta).
