Anies Baswedan Is Still Waiting For The Announcement Of His Vice Presidential Candidate In The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - Presidential candidate from the Coalition for Change for Unity (KPP) Anies Baswedan is still waiting to announce his candidate for deputy in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). It is certain that this figure will be mentioned at the right moment.

"(When, ed) the time will come (announced, ed)," Anies told reporters after meeting with the Chairman of the PKS Syuro Council Salim Segaf Al Jufri in Jakarta, Saturday, August 26.

Meanwhile, PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu stated that the name of the vice presidential candidate was fully handed over to Anies. They do not want to press but hope that the person chosen to meet the criteria such as nationalists, religiousists, and can work together as well as increase the electability of the former governor of DKI Jakarta.

"It doesn't matter (announced, red) last minute. Everything is left to Pak Anies when it is announced, he is an adult," he said at the same location.

Syaikhu also denied that Anies' electability was lost to other candidates, such as Ganjar Pranowo and Prabowo Subianto, not solely because of the vice president. He said this kind of thing usually happens and later it can turn around.

This has even happened when Anies ran in the Jakarta gubernatorial election (Pilgub). "That's usually a lot of factors. For us it's normal," he said.

"After declare, we will work all out," continued Syaikhu.

As previously reported, member of the Upper House of the Democratic Party, Syarief Hasan, assessed Anies' low electability compared to Ganjar Pranowo and Prabowo Subianto because he had not yet determined the vice presidential candidate. So, he is expected to immediately decide on his companion figure.

"Kita lihat elektabilitasnya Anies sudah mulai tergerus kan. Nah itu salah satu bukti bahwa tidak ada deklarasi (cawapres) yang jelas," kata Syarief saat ditemui di Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta Pusat, Kamis, 24 Agustus.

"Hopefully the declaration can be faster. Because the democrat also encourages the declaration to be carried out as soon as possible. Because otherwise we can lose time and the moment can be lost," he continued.
