TARAKAN- In order to make the National Movement (Gernas) Proud to be Made in Indonesia (BBI) and Proud to Travel in Indonesia Aja (BBWI) in 2023, a National Creative Work Festival (Gernas) was held with the theme United in Continent Harmoni in Tarakan, North Kalimantan.

The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemkominfo) this time was appointed as a co-campagn manager to support the Gernas BBI/PDN and BBWI 2023 activities in North Kalimantan Province, in collaboration with the Provincial Government and Bank Indonesia as the campaign manager.

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of the nation's economy. There are 65.4 million MSMEs in Indonesia that contribute up to 61.07% or IDR 8.5 trillion in national Gross Domestic Revenue (GDP).

In supporting the movement of MSMEs, President Joko Widodo on May 14, 2020 inaugurated Gernas BBI so that Indonesians love and use local MSME products. For 2023-2024, Gernas BBI deepens and expands its coverage by increasing BBWI activation.

The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, in his keynote speech video said that since the launch of Gernas BBI, around 22.68 million MSME onboardings have been achieved as of June 2023.

"Gernas BBI has also succeeded in encouraging an increase in government spending on Domestic Products (PDN). Through the e-catalog procurement system, local MSMEs/IKM/Artisans have the opportunity to get the government market," explained Luhut.

In launching the Gernas BBI and BBWI programs, the Ministry of Communication and Information is engaged with the Regional Government and all stakeholders. This collaboration is expected to create economic multiplicities, improve the quality of human resources, and develop new industries based on MSME/IKM/Artisan in the regions. Where, 95% of the Central and Regional Government spending budget in 2023 is intended for PDN.

"We are doing this collaboration together with the North Kalimantan Provincial Government, BI Representatives for Kaltara, BPJPH and LPPOM MUI, one of which was through the Digitalk Forum in March 2023 and which was just held yesterday (19/8) at the Tarakan Plaza Hotel," said the Director General of Information and Public Communication, Kemenkominfo, Usman Kansong, in his remarks.

Usman explained that in 2023, the Ministry of Communication and Information is committed to synergizing in providing assistance in terms of Online Single Submission (OSS), which can make it easier for North Kalimantan MSME players to obtain Business Identification Numbers (NIB) as well as Halal Certification. Over the past three years, Usman has also conveyed the collaboration between the Ministry of Communication and Information with all Ministries/D in encouraging the onboarding of MSMEs into the digital space and getting closer to the target of 30 million MSMEs onboarding in 2024.

Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Destry Damayanti in her speech explained that the Beninanta Creative Work Festival is an annual event that is a synergy between Bank Indonesia, the Central Government, the Regional Government in advancing the province of North Kalimantan.

This activity is also part of Gernas BBI, BBWI, National QRIS Week, Gernas Food Inflation Control. This is also in line with the theme, namely Uniting the Continent Harmoni. Let's make this series of activities a momentum for the unity of our determination to jointly explore every potential of the Continent Earth, "explained Destry.

As the host, the province of Kaltara continues to encourage the use of local food products and consumption. North Kalimantan Governor Zainal Arifin Paliwang in his speech mentioned the implementation of Governor Regulation (Pergub) Number 21 of 2021 concerning guidelines for the use of typical batik for Kaltara and Pergub Number 25 of 2021 concerning local food development as a form of support for Gernas BBI and BBWI. The use of batik Kaltara, explained Zainal, must be used by ASN and various agencies in Kaltara, including the use of lion; the typical head covering of Kaltara.

"Through Gernas BBI and BBWI, we invite all Indonesian people, especially the people of Kaltara, to always love and be proud of the work of their own country's children. Buying products made in Indonesia is a concrete form of defense and love for the nation," said Zainal.

In a press conference session after the event, Zainal also emphasized the issue of local products that were the pride of Kaltara such as karyan rice; organic rice without chemical fertilizer, krayan milk, and karyan salt; special salt originating from the Krayan highlands. This product is expected to be able to continue to be explored as the flagship Kaltara.

As governor, Zainal seeks to expand the marketing of agricultural products, by trying Malinau land road to Krayan so that agricultural products in the Krayan area can be an option. The reason is, the logistics of agricultural products are distributed using aircraft that greatly affect product prices in the market. He also regretted that Krayan's agricultural products have been enjoyed by other countries such as Malaysia.
