JAKARTA - Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR) condemns the actions of the armed criminal group or Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Nduga, Papua, which shot dead three civilians in Nduga, Papua, to coincide with the celebration of the 78th Indonesian Independence Day.

Deputy Chairman of Commission III of DPR RI Ahmad Sahroni, asked the TNI-Polri to respond strongly to the KKB's provocative act.

"I think (the shooting of civilians by the KKB) is a provocation by the KKB which we must respond very strongly to," said Sahroni to journalists, Thursday, August 18.

According to the general treasurer of the NasDem Party, the KKB's actions at the commemoration of Indonesian independence had disturbed the pride and sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

"Apart from being very evil in shooting civilians, the election for the moment of August 17 gives the impression that the KKB wants to disturb the pride and sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.

Therefore, the legislator for the Jakarta electoral district thinks that the National Army (TNI)-National Police (Polri) must be firm in responding to the KKB which seems to want to bring down the pride of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

"I ask the TNI and Polri to take tough but measured actions to respond to this. The TNI and Polri must be firm and measured, not to be allowed to trample on the pride of the country," said Sahroni.

It is known that three civilians died after being shot by an armed criminal group (KKB) at the Yosoma Complex, Jalan Batas Batu, Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains, on Wednesday, August 16, one day ahead of the celebration of the 78th Indonesian Independence Day.

The three civilians who died in this incident consisted of two indigenous Papuans and one migrant. Namely Steven Didiway, Michael Rumaropen and Samsul Ahmad.

In addition, two cars were also reported to have caught fire in the action allegedly carried out by the KKB.
