JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has ensured that there are no obstacles in distributing aid to victims of hunger disasters in three districts in Puncak Regency, Central Papua.

"After we went there, especially since this is a humanitarian operation, it's safe. Moreover, now 8,000 tons of BNPB goods have entered the district at Agandugume Airport," said Head of BNPB Suharyanto in Jakarta, Wednesday, August 9, which was confiscated by Antara.

Suharyanto was grateful that after he and Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy flew directly to Central Papua, now there are no significant obstacles in the distribution of food disaster relief. Although he admitted, previously there were reports of gunfire from pilots who delivered their needs to Central Papua.

"Maybe in the past, we also didn't understand that there was no purely shooting contact. There was only a pilot who had reported that there was a shot first. Yesterday I went there with the Coordinating Minister was safe," he said.

He said the basic needs assistance was stored centrally at Sinak Airport. The distance from Sinak Airport to Agandugume Airport takes two days and one night on foot.

Agandugume Airport is the closest area to three districts affected by hunger, namely Agandugume, Lambewi, and Oneri Districts.

The government plans to also build a post at Agandugume Airport to ensure the distribution of aid for the community runs smoothly.

"Starting in early September we have started (developing security posts)," he said.

The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture said the government had prepared a scheme for handling hunger that hit three districts in Puncak Regency, Central Papua.

"Now all processes continue to be carried out in the short, medium and long term," he said.
