SUKABUMI - Polres Sukabumi, West Java detained two junior high school students because they were caught possessing and carrying a sharp weapon illegally which was allegedly used for brawls between students.
"The two students aged 14 and 15 were arrested by residents at Parungkuda Market, Parungkuda District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java on Friday (4/8) at around 14.30 WIB," said Sukabumi Police Chief AKBP Maruly Pardede as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 7.
The detention of these two unscrupulous students began when Parungkuda Police personnel received information that there was a crowd of residents around Parungkuda Market. It turned out that after being questioned, residents arrested two junior high school students who were about to fight.
From the results of the development, the police arrested 13 students who were about to fight and then taken to the Parungkuda Police Headquarters for questioning.
Of the dozens, only two students were designated as children in conflict with the law (ABH) because of illegal possession of sharp weapons.
Because both of them are minors, the Parungkuda Police have delegated this case to the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Sukabumi Police Satreskrim.
From the hands of the two ABHs, the police confiscated 58 cm long sickle and saw (chainsaw) with a width of 8 cm which had been modified to be used as a sharp weapon in inter-student brawls.
According to Maruly, because both of them are minors, of course, the handling of criminal cases is different from that of adults.
"What we are doing is to provide a deterrent effect to anyone, because what the two ABHs have done is against the law and endangers others," he added.
