Answering Cak Imin's Statement, PBNU Affirms No Special Mandate For PKB

Deputy Secretary General of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU), Sulaeman Tanjung, emphasized that PBNU has never given a special mandate to the National Awakening Party (PKB).

This affirmation was conveyed by Sulaeman in response to the statement by the General Chairperson of PKB Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin who said that his party had received many mandates of struggle from NU.

"There has never been a special aspiration or mandate to PKB. As for the aspirations of NU residents, we are entrusted to all existing political actors and parties. So it should be noted, not only PKB," said Sulaeman Tanjung in his statement Monday, August 7.

Sulaeman considered Muhaimin wrong by stating that PKB could mandate the struggle from NU.

Sulaeman said, PKB was only chosen by less than 10 percent of Nahdliyin residents. That means 90 percent or the majority of nahdliyin residents don't want PKB.

"This must be PKB's homework. Don't just claim, but in reality, the majority of NU residents do not entrust their aspirations through PKB," he said.

Sulaeman emphasized that all political parties, including PKB, hope that the voices of Nahdliyin residents must work hard for NU.

"Please prove it by concrete efforts to fight for NU's aspirations. Don't just play claims with statements," he said.
