Indonesian Students Who Win Gold At IEO 2023 (Jakarta News)

YOGYAKARTA - Himyar Arsenio Kamaka, a student of SMAN 8 Jakarta, successfully contributed a gold medal for Indonesia at the 2023 International Economics Olympiad (IEO) which was held in Volos, Greece from 24 July-2 August 2023.

This annual economic competition for high school students around the world is made to improve expertise in solving problems creatively.

The reason is, Himyar admitted that he was faced with various tests, ranging from multiple questions or economic essai which were quantitative, financial literacy and business cases.

"To become an Indonesian delegation to IEO requires a struggle that is not easy," he said, Wednesday, August 2.

When he got to the IEO event, Himyar and 5 of his colleagues were champions

National Science Olympics (OSN) for Economic Affairs in 2022.

This student has also explored a series of coaching and selected IEO 3 times with 30 other students throughout Indonesia.

Himyar started the competition in the IEO event against 223 participants from 50 countries who participated and came to the conclusion of finding the Individual Gold Award from the totality of the competition.

"Alhamdulillah, I feel proud to be able to get this award," he said.

He added that not only individual types, in the team category, Indonesia also reached Silver Medal or only lost by 0.9 from the Brazilian squad.

"Hopefully next year we can be number 1 for sure," he said.

The head of SMAN 8 Jakarta, Mukhlis, is very grateful for Himyar

managed to achieve a gold medal in the IEO 2023 event. The achievement of this achievement is considered the most beautiful gift at the 65th Anniversary of this school.

"The following year we could be gold from the Geographic Division. Currently we can get gold again from the Economic Sector. This is a very proud achievement for our school," he said.
