Lampung DPRD Member's Car Hits 5-Year-Old Boy To Death

The car of a member of the Lampung DPRD, Okta Rijaya, hit a 5-year-old boy to death in Bandar Lampung, Lampung. The victim died when he was hit by a car by a member of the Lampung DPRD while playing cooking around his house.

The unfortunate incident occurred when the victim was playing on the side of the road near a shop owned by his parents on Jalan Antara, Gang Antara, Sukajawa Village, Tanjung Karang Barat District, Bandar Lampung, Tuesday, August 1 at around 19.45 WIB.

The victim was hit and run over by Okta Rijaya's car, which at that time passed into the alley in the victim's parents' house.

The victim was even caught under the wheel of Okta Rijaya's car until he was dragged three meters away. The victim who was successfully evacuated was immediately rushed to the hospital. However, the victim died from serious injuries to his head and body.

The Head of Traffic at the Bandar Lampung Police, Kompol Ikhwan Syukri, confirmed that the driver of the car that hit the victim to death was a member of the Lampung DPRD, Okta Rijaya.

"It's true (a member of the Lampung DPRD). So in our data, the job is private, after we re-check the name it is true that the driver is a member of the DPRD with the initials ORM," said Commissioner Ikhwan Syukri in his statement, Wednesday, August 2.

According to Kompol Ikhwan Syukri, a member of the DPRD who was the driver of the car that hit the victim was suspected of being negligent and lost control when he turned into the alley at the scene.

Meanwhile, Ida Royani (40), the victim's aunt, said that the victim at the time of the incident was playing cooking on the side of the road near her parents' stall.

"I certainly don't see the incident, because the person who saw it was his parents. His (victim's) position was playing well together near the shop, he was sitting across from the incident," said Ida Rohani.

Idah Royani said that her nephew was run over by the car that entered the alley.

"Yes, he was hit and then run over. The victim's parents who saw the incident were shocked because a lot of blood had been pouring out," said Ida Royani.

According to Muharis (45), a local resident who saw the incident confirmed that the driver of the car that hit the victim was a member of the Lampung DPRD named Okta Rijaya.

"Yes, Mr. Okta, residents here know that he is a member of the council in Lampung. The victim was hit and then dragged and ran over. I saw that the car was immediately taken, and the Okta was going to the hospital. If I'm not mistaken, the body up was hit," said Muharis.

The victim was buried by the family on the day of the incident at the public cemetery (TPU) of Sukajawa Village, Tanjung Karang Barat District, Bandar Lampung.

The incident of the death of the victim as a result of being hit by the car of a member of the Lampung Provincial DPRD has now been handled by the Traffic Unit (Sat Lalu) of the Bandar Lampung Police.

The police are still investigating Okta Rijaya. For the purposes of the investigation, the police have secured the minibus that hit the victim as evidence.
