Medan District Court Judge Sentenced To 4.75 Grams Of Shabu 8 Sentenced To 8 Years In Prison

The panel of judges at the Medan District Court (PN) sentenced the defendant M. Maisa Jenar in the case of a narcotics courier of 4.75 grams (gr) of methamphetamine, with eight years in prison.

"The defendant M. Maisa Jenar was sentenced to eight years in prison for a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to three months in prison," said Chief Judge Pinta Uli Tarigan in a trial at the Medan District Court as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 2.

The panel of judges in the verdict stated that the facts of the trial of the defendant M. Maisa Jenar had violated Article 114 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics.

"That is, without rights or against the law offering to sell, sell, buy, accept, become intermediaries in buying and selling, exchanging, or handing over class I narcotics in the form of non-plants in the form of a package of 4.75 grams of net weight," he said.

The panel of judges said that the defendant's actions were aggravating because he did not support the government's program in eradicating drugs, while the thing that eased the defendant regretted his actions and was polite during the trial.

After reading the verdict, the public prosecutor (JPU) and the defendant's legal adviser (PH) thought about it or accepted the decision.

The judge's decision was lighter than the prosecutor's demand, which was eight years and a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to six months in prison.
