8-Vehicle Accident In Cianjur Starting With Tronton Truck Rem Blong, One Motorbike Dies

The Cianjur Police, West Java, investigated the cause of a series of accidents involving eight vehicles on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, Cianjur, which resulted in the death of a motorcyclist, Wednesday (2/8).

Head of Cianjur Police Traffic Unit AKP Anaga Budiharso said the successive accidents involving the eight vehicles were thought to have started with a tronton truck loaded with mineral water experiencing a failed brake when entering the scene.

"We are still investigating the exact cause of the successive accidents involving three trucks, one minibus and three motorbikes, one motorcycle rider died at the scene, three other people were seriously injured," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 2.

The main cause of the tronton truck accident was loaded with mineral water in packaging which was traveling at high speed from Sukabumi to Cianjur.

When entering a downhill road on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan truk suffered a failed brake, so it drove out of control.

Uncontrolled trucks hit the fence of the house before hitting a number of vehicles in front of it and from the opposite direction including three motorbikes, as a result, a motorcyclist died on the spot.

"The truck that was traveling was out of control and ran a red light and hit a number of vehicles ranging from trucks, minibuses, and motorbike riders, until finally the truck plunged into the rice fields," he said.

Currently, the police have asked for statements from witnesses who drove the minibus and truck drivers who were victims and a number of other witnesses to determine the cause of the successive accidents.

Meanwhile, a number of eyewitnesses saw a truck traveling uncontrollably running a red light and finally hitting a number of vehicles in front of it and from a fight, including the victim who died who was driving on a motorbike at that time.

"I shouted for road users to avoid it, but the truck has hit a minibus and a female motorcycle rider who was caught between the body of the minibus truck," said eye witness Agus (34), the owner of the tire patch repair shop.

The truck did not immediately stop after hitting eight vehicles, but continued to slide 700 meters until the end fell into the rice fields. "I saw the victim died one woman, while three other people were seriously injured," he said.
