JAKARTA - The Commander of the Central Military Police (Danpuspom) TNI Marsda R. Agung Handoko stated that his party has its own mechanism to take action against soldiers who are entangled in criminal acts.

They objected when the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named the Head of the National SAR Agency (Kabasarnas) Marshal TNI Henri Alfiandi and the Coordinator of Administration (Koorsmin) Kabasarnas Lt. Col. Afri Budi Cahyanto as suspects. Both were entangled in allegations of bribery in the procurement of equipment at Basarnas.

"From our team, we frankly object that (they, ed) are named suspects, especially for the military because we have our own provisions, we have our own rules," Agung said at a press conference in Jakarta, Friday, July 28.

Agung said the TNI and the KPK should respect each other. "We have our own rules," he said.

"The TNI has regulations from the KPK, whether it's general law, it has rules as well. We TNI officers cannot designate civilians as suspects. Likewise, we hope that the KPK will do the same," continued Agung.

Furthermore, Agung stated that his party had not yet carried out legal proceedings against Henri and Afri. Although Afri has been handed over by the KPK as a suspect, the investigation process is not yet ongoing.

"Because our basis for carrying out the legal process is a police report. And at that time, the KPK colleagues who made the arrests had not made a report to us as investigators in the military environment," he explained.

"So, the status of Lt. Col. ABC which was handed over at that time was just a deposit," added Agung.

As previously reported, Henri was named a suspect in the aftermath of a hand arrest operation (OTT) in Cilangkap, Jakarta and Jatisampurna, Bekasi on Tuesday, July 24.

Henri allegedly earned command funds of up to IDR 88.3 billion. The money was pocketed by private parties who wanted to work on projects at his institution from 2021-2023.

The receipt of the money is said to be an anti-corruption commission carried out by Henri through Koorsmin Kabasarnas Afri Budi Cahyanto.

Apart from Henri and Afri, the anti-corruption commission also determined three private parties who gave money during the silent operation. They are the President Commissioner of PT Multi Grafika Cipta Sejati Mulsunadi Gunawan, President Director of PT Intertekno Grafika Sejati Marilya, Managing Director of PT Kuntung Abadi Utama Roni Aidil.

This case began when Basarnas carried out several projects in 2023. The first project is the procurement of debris victims detection equipment with a contract value of Rp9.9 billion.

Second, the public safety diving equipment procurement project with a contract value of Rp. 17.3 billion. Finally, the procurement of ROV for KN SAR Ganesha is worth Rp. 89.9 billion.
