Police Arrest 3 Kidnappers In Aceh Who Asked For A Ransom Of IDR 70 Million

BANDA ACEH - Unit V Team Resmob Satreskrim Lhokseumawe Police, Aceh, arrested three suspects in the kidnapping of a resident using a firearm and asked for a ransom of Rp. 70 million.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Lhokseumawe Police, Iptuulbrahim, said the kidnapping case of the victim named Syarbani (45) occurred on Wednesday (5/7) in Blang CRum Village, Muara Dua District, Lhokseumawe City.

"The three kidnappers were arrested at different times and locations in East Aceh Regency," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 21.

He explained that the kidnapping was known to the victim's sister on reports from residents who saw her brother being taken by the perpetrator by car and had not returned home.

"At around 21.59 WIB, his sister was sent the position of the victim's whereabouts by someone. Next, the victim contacted his sister using someone else's number and informed her that the victim was being held hostage and tortured by the perpetrator," he said.

Ibrahim said that at that time the victim asked his younger brother to prepare Rp70 million. If it is not fulfilled, the victim will be killed by the perpetrator.

"After receiving the call, the victim's sister immediately made an official report to the Lhokseumawe Police," he said.

Furthermore, said Ibrahim, the police immediately conducted an investigation and received information about the whereabouts of the kidnapping suspect.

The police headed to the destination and arrested suspects AW (25) and MJ (38) in Tanjong Tok Blang Village, Julok District, East Aceh Regency on Sunday (9/7).

"The two suspects were immediately brought to the Lhokseumawe Police Headquarters for further investigation," he said.

From the results of the interrogation of the two suspects, said Ibrahim, then on Thursday (20/7) at around 16.30 WIB, officers managed to arrest another suspect, namely MU (41) in Jalan Village, Idi Rayeuk, East Aceh.

"During the search, officers found an airsoft gun short weapon which was allegedly used by the suspect to carry out the kidnapping act," he said.

The motive for the kidnapping, according to Ibrahim, is suspected to be due to debt problems between the victim and the suspect MU.

In addition to arresting the three perpetrators, the police secured a unit of a minibus used by the suspects to move around places of confinement and a cell phone unit.

"For their actions, the three suspects were charged with Article 328 in conjunction with Article 333 in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code with a maximum imprisonment of 12 years," he said.
