Koster: End Of July Sustainability Of Gilimanuk- Mengwi Toll Road

Bali Governor Wayan Koster said that at the end of July 2023 there would be certainty regarding the sustainability of the Jagat Kerthi Bali toll road project connecting Gilimanuk-Menwi, which had stalled.

"Finally July (2023) there is certainty of its sustainability. It will definitely continue, but with a different scheme. That is the authority of the Minister of PUPR," said Koster in Denpasar as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 20.

According to him, during a meeting with the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) two days ago, it was said that there was a change in the consortium in the project.

"While waiting for it, its activities (the construction of the Gilimanuk-Bengwi toll road) have stopped," he said.

Previously, Koster also explained that the construction of the Jagat Kerthi Bali Toll Road which will connect Gilimanuk and Mengwi along 96.21 kilometers experienced a slowdown or delay from the initial plan.

"The toll road construction has slowed down due to changes in shareholders in corporate companies that have the task of working on toll roads," he said.

Koster conveyed that the Minister of PUPR had confirmed that the Gilimanuk-Bengwi toll road construction process would continue and there was nothing to worry about.

Previously, the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono when laying the first stone for the construction of the Jagat Kerthi Gilimanuk-Bengwi Toll Road, Bali, in Jembrana Regency, targeted the toll road construction to be completed by 2025.

The Jagat Kerthi Bali toll road itself is a toll road connecting Gilimanuk-Bengwi which will be the main access for public vehicles, four wheels, two wheels, even bicycles, from Jembrana Regency, Tabanan, to Badung.

The 96.21-kilometer toll route will go through three districts, 13 sub-districts, and 58 villages with an estimated construction cost of IDR 24 trillion.
