AHY Regarding The PD-Gerindra Secretary General's Meeting: Democrats Remain Serious In The Coalition For Change

YOGYAKARTA - Chairman of the DPP Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said that the meeting of the Secretary-General of the Democratic Party, Teuku Riefky Harsya, with the Secretary-General of the Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani, at the DPP Democrat office, had been proposed for a long time but had just been realized.

"What is clear is that the good meeting between the two secretary generals was accompanied by a number of high-ranking party officials, both Gerindra and Democrats, at the Democratic Central Leadership Council. This is an intention that has been conveyed for a long time but can only now," AHY said after attending the Fisipol Leadership Forum at the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Yogyakarta reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 20.

AHY considers every meeting between political parties to have a good spirit to establish communication as well as to be a means of finding solutions to various problems in this country.

The eldest son of the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono admitted that he was one of the party cadres bearing the Mercy Star symbol, always opening up to communicate and stay in touch with any party.

"What is clear is that we want to be an example for the wider community that even though it is different in choice and the political position is always open to space to be able to communicate and build cooperation," he said.

When asked about the opportunity to form a new coalition following the meeting of high-ranking two parties, AHY admitted that in politics it was always there.

"I think these things have always been the subject of discussion. We don't want to make assumptions, but what is clear is that politics is indeed impossible. Politics is an art that can state all that can happen," he said.

Nevertheless, AHY ensured that until now the Democratic Party remains serious about building a Coalition for Amendments to Unity (KPP).

"I assure you that today the Democrats are also serious about building a coalition of changes. Well of course on their way we want to open ourselves up to anyone who can join the spirit of change like this, and vice versa," he said.

Despite being in the coalition of parties supporting Anies, according to AHY, the Democrat Party will not shut itself down hearing the views of other parties outside the coalition.

"Kita tahu Partai Gerindra adalah partai yang besar yang juga memiliki sikap dan politik hari ini, termasuk juga Partai Demokrat juga demikian, yang jelas semangat seperti ini adalah baik untuk semua," ujar AHY.
