JAKARTA - As a leader close to millennials, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo encourages young people to quickly adapt to follow world developments, especially the development of the digital world.
This was conveyed by Ganjar when he was a resource person at the 2023 Young On Top National Conference (YOTNC). YOUTNC is a gathering place for the younger generation of Indonesia who are ready to be inspired and achieve success at a young age.
Ganjar said that the development of the digital world for Gen Z and millennials must be accompanied by knowledge and skills in order to be able to balance the experience gained.
"There is sharing sessions of experience how the digital world affects, then we can prepare ourselves that knowledge and skills are important to be able to deal with future situations," said Ganjar at The Kasablanka Hall, South Jakarta, Saturday, July 15.
The white-haired man said that today young people have been equipped with digital technology, such as gadgets. This, said Ganjar, is a capital that can be maximized to get information for adaptation of the times as much as possible.
As Ganjar has done in his capacity as a leader in Central Java for two terms which has made many programs and policies in involving and encouraging the role of young people.
Among other things, Ganjar has created a creative space called Hetero Space which is equipped with various facilities such as communal areas, meeting rooms, event spaces, and private offices that can be used by individuals, communities, and start-ups to collaborate and be creative.
Ganjar also believes that many talented young Indonesian talents will be able to make the name of the Indonesian nation fragrant, as well as advancing the country.
"Many want to become entrepreneurs. How is access to capital, how is collaboration, so that young people have a lot of knowledge and can now meet in person," said Ganjar.
"They have capital, they are used to the digital world, they have creativity, they have innovation and then they apply it in their own talents," continued Ganjar.
The Hetero Space has had an impact on 500 communities. In addition, as many as 100 companies have collaborated. Meanwhile, MSMEs that take part in the program are 15,000 MSMEs, and start-ups that have participated in the program are 2,500 programs
On that occasion, Ganjar also explained to young people who were present about Indonesia's demographic bonus which had to be maximized as quickly as possible. Ganjar said that the Indonesian nation had the opportunity for 13 years to take advantage of the demographic bonus.
Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia's total population of productive age reached 186.77 million people in 2020 with a dependence ratio of 44.33 percent.
"The demographic bonus is happening. So I said earlier in the next 13 years, if we fail to manage this, then our potential to develop, to jump into an economic state, the top four countries in the world have the potential to fail," said Ganjar.
Ganjar added, optimizing the Indonesian demographic bonus must also be in line with the spirit and struggle of young people based on national values.
In addition, Ganjar said, education is also an important instrument in the journey of the nation's children in welcoming Indonesia Gold 2045.
"It takes a quick action for that. Infrastructure is provided including the IT, the talent space is opened, so the education curriculum must be overhauled. So that young people can get the same opportunity," said Ganjar.
