Kadin Hopes Political Figures Don't Make Noise So The Economy Continues To Grow

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) hopes that political figures in the country will participate in creating conducive political conditions and not make noise so that the economy can continue to grow positively ahead of the 2024 General Election.

"Political figures are able to create political conditions that are conducive and not noisy. That will also make our economy grow positively," said Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce for Regional Autonomy Development Sarman Simanjorang as quoted by Antara, Sunday.

According to Sarman, when political conditions are conducive, investors do not hesitate to enter Indonesia and entrepreneurs can also feel confident.

"But if for example this noise (political condition) will also disturb psychological entrepreneurs and investors will also hesitate to enter," he said on the sidelines of attending the Bali Kadin Rapimprov.

Therefore, he continued, it is a challenge and a shared task that we hope that this political process in this political year can run peacefully, orderly and well.

On the other hand, although the Indonesian economy can grow strong 5.03 percent in the first quarter of 2023, Indonesia is still facing the challenges of slowing down the global economy and geopolitical conflicts.

Sarman said that currently the economic condition is not doing well as a result of the global geopolitical conflict that affects inflation in Indonesia and the economies of countries in the world.

"We have conveyed to the government how we remain vigilant about the potential we have and must be empowered as much as possible," he said.

Among them through domestic potential as instructed by the President so that spending on central governments, local governments, and SOEs prioritizes buying domestic products.

"The potential is extraordinary because regional government and central government spending is almost Rp1,000 trillion. If our domestic product spending rotates in Indonesia, it greatly contributes positively to our economic growth," said Sarman.
