BRIN Calls Ganjar Pranowo Will Be An Ideal Presidential Candidate For Millennials

JAKARTA - Director of Politics and Hankam of the Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Moch Nurhasim assessed that it is not surprising that the campus millennials will place the candidate for president from the PDI-P Ganjar Pranowo as the ideal presidential candidate.

The reason is, Ganjar Pranowo has reliable experience to lead Indonesia in the future. This was conveyed by Nurhasim when he was a resource person at the release of a national survey by the Indonesian Voters Institute (LPI) entitled 'Presidential Candidate for Millennial Campus' at the Aryaduta Hotel, Jakarta, Saturday (15/7). "From young circles, he (Ganjar) also has inspiration, as one of the millennial figures who has extraordinary political experience potential. From the DPR as a politician then became governor of Central Java for 2 periods and so on. So from the experience side, Pak Ganjar can be relied on because also in parliament and executives have been carried out a lot," said Nurhasis as quoted by Antara, Sunday.

In addition, said Nurhasim, Ganjar Pranowo also has a low profile character. This is considered as part of the lower society as well as a populist style.

For this reason, the majority of people consider Ganjar to be similar to President Jokowi. "Pak Ganjar, I see that he imitated Pak Jokowi's character model even though it was not the same. Pak Ganjar, the person who doesn't talk too much, the language measured by communication, can be understood by the small community," he said. However, Nurhasim assessed that the electability of the presidential candidate is still dynamic, so Ganjar Pranowo still has to be vigilant and find creative steps to maintain and increase electability.

According to him, one of the determining factors later is Ganjar Pranowo's future vice presidential candidate. "So the vice presidential candidate must be able to support Ganjar's electoral, not only from the side of having capital but must represent voter segmentation outside the current segmentation of voters who support Ganjar, because if it is the same there is no use, it is only a candidate from NU or other figure, part of NU or from the Prabowo or Anies camp. This depends on the strategy of the presidential candidate to be promoted," concluded Nurhasi.

Adapun survei terbaru Lembaga Pemilih Indonesia (LPI) menunjukkan bakal calon presiden (bacapres) Ganjar Pranowo menjadi capres ideal versi milenial kampus. Ganjar mengungguli dua pesaingnya, yakni Ketum Gerindra Prabowo Subianto dan bacapres Anies Baswedan."Dari semua indikator yang diukur, Ganjar unggul dengan angka 36,18 persen, Prabowo Subianto mendapat nilai 33,75 persen, dan Anis Baswedan mendapat nilai 30,07 persen," ujar Direktur LPI Boni Hargens.Survei itu menyajikan sejumlah indikator, yaitu rekam jejak, integritas, kompetensi, skill, leadership, nasionalisme, dan keselarasan dengan leadership Presiden Jokowi.

From the track record aspect, said Boni, Ganjar excels at 37.44 percent, followed by Prabowo Subianto 34.38 percent and Anies Baswedan 28.18 percent. Likewise with the integrity aspect, Ganjar 36.27 percent, Prabowo Subianto 33.93 percent and Anies 29.80 percent. "Almost all indicators were swept away by Ganjar Pranowo. The highest was an indicator of alignment with President Jokowi's leadership where 44.51 percent of campus millennials assessed Ganjar's alignment with Jokowi's leadership, Prabowo Subianto 34.61 percent and Anies Baswedan 20.89 percent," said Boni. LPI's national survey was conducted on 5 to 11 July 2023 which aims to explore campus millennials' views on ideal presidential candidates. Millennials referred to in this survey are groups of young, highly educated children (D3, S1, S2, S3) who have a lifetime range from 27 years to 42 years who are aware and actively observing national issues and have an independent view of political issues that occurred ahead of the 2024 elections, at least during the first semester of 2023. The population of these surveys are campus millennials such as S2 and S3 students, researchers, academics, academics, and campus academic community. The sampling technique used in this research is cluster sampling where the subjects appointed as samples are based on the millennial clustering of each campus in the city or province.

Based on the sampling technique, the number of samples obtained was 700 respondents. The margin of error from the sample is 2.8 percent at the confidence level of 97.2 percent.
