Police Thwart Circulation Of 5 Kg Of Methamphetamine In Palembang, Courier From Central Kalimantan Arrested

The police thwarted efforts to circulate five kilograms of methamphetamine in Palembang, South Sumatra, which was to be smuggled by a courier from Central Kalimantan.

Head of the Palembang Police Narcotics Investigation Unit AKBP Mario Ivanry said the drug evidence was brought by a courier named Yoga (29), a resident of Kahayan Hilir, Central Kalimantan.

The suspect Yoga was arrested during an ambush operation at the Pipa Reja gas station, Kemuning, Palembang, Monday, July 10, evening.

"The police found that as many as one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine was stored in the suspect's backpack, which was already the target of the operation," he said.

Not only did the police stop there and checked the suspect's cellphone to trace the distribution network of other methamphetamine from him.

Because, according to him, based on information obtained by the police, the suspect arrived in Palembang to plan to smuggle large amounts of methamphetamine.

"Finally, it's true, we got four kilograms of other methamphetamine stored by the suspect in a warehouse in the hardami area," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 11.

He said the suspect's officers admitted that the methamphetamine belonged to a boss with the initials F who ordered him to be circulated in Palembang.

The identity of the suspected boss of methamphetamine with the initials F has been pocketed and is currently in police hunting.

For his actions, the suspect Yoga is threatened with being charged with Article 115 Paragraph 2 subsidiary Article 114 Paragraph 2 subsidiary over Article 112 Paragraph 2 Juncto Article 132 Paragraph 1 of Law Number 35 Year 2009 concerning Narcotics with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison or the death penalty.
