KENDARI - The Kendari National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) conducted a search operation for a resident who was reported missing by a crocodile in the Roraya River, South Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi.

Acting Head of the Kendari Basarnas Hidayat in Kendari, Wednesday, said the victim named Rode (50) was reported missing when he was active in the Roraya River, South Konawe.

"We received information about the loss of a victim from his family named Arpa at around 18.50 WITA. The victim was reported missing by a crocodile in the Roraya River," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 5.

After receiving this information, his party then dispatched a rescue team to carry out search operations for victims.

"At 19.05 WITA, the Kendari Search and Rescue Team was dispatched to the last location where the victim was reported missing to provide SAR assistance," said Hidayat.

He said the Kendari Search and Rescue Office (KPP) rescue team traveled about 91 kilometers to get to the last location where the victim was reported missing.

"The victim is a resident of Roraya Village, Tinanggea District. South Konawe Regency," he said.

Hidayat said that initially, at around 15.00 WITA, the victim and his wife were active on the riverbank, but suddenly the victim was attacked by a crocodile and disappeared.

"The victim's wife who saw directly sought help from local residents. The search has been carried out with zero results until we receive this information," he said.
