Al Zaytun Leader Panji Gumilang Has Not Confirmed Attending Call For Bareskrim Examination

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has scheduled an examination of the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School leader, Panji Gumilang, today. He will be questioned regarding the alleged blasphemy.

"We invite the person concerned (Panji Gumilang) at 9-10 for clarification," said the Director of General Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Brigadier General Djuhandani when confirmed, Monday, July 3.

However, it is not certain that Panji Gumilang will fulfill the examination agenda. This is because there has been no confirmation of attendance, either from the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School leader or his attorney.

"There has been no confirmation of attendance," said Djuhandani.

Panji Gumilang was reported by the Pancasila Defenders Advocate Forum to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police. The report relates to allegations of blasphemy.

In the report, the context of blasphemy was allegedly carried out by Panji Gumilang regarding Al-Zaytun's teachings which were deemed to deviate from Islamic teachings.

One example of Al-Zaytun's teachings that are considered deviant is greetings. Then, allow women to be preachers. Then about the Qur'an called made by the Prophet Muhammad.

The report has been registered with the number LP/B/163/VI/2023/SPKT/BARESKRIM. So, in the report, Panji Gumilang was suspected of violating Article 156 a of the Criminal Code.

The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Komjen Agus Andrianto, said that if Panji Gumilang was not present, then investigators would conduct a case title.

The title of this case aims to determine whether the case can be escalated to the investigation stage to determine the suspect.

"Hopefully, from the results of the case title, whether the case can be investigated or not, hopefully it will be determined on Tuesday (4/7)," said Agus.
