President Jokowi Has Flew Towards Jakarta When The M6.0 Earthquake Shakes Bantul Yogyakarta

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was already on a flight to Jakarta when an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 rocked the Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, Friday, June 30,

This was revealed by the Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media of the Presidential Secretariat (Setpres) Bey Machmudin.

"The Presidential Aircraft Indonesia-1 which brought the President and Mrs. Iriana with the group took off on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 19.20 WIB," Bey said when confirmed in Jakarta, Saturday, July 1.

The earthquake in Bantul occurred on Friday night, at 19.57 WIB. Based on information from the Head of the Yogyakarta Presidential Palace, Dedi Mulyana, the earthquake was also felt at the Great Building of the Presidential Palace. However, the condition of all buildings and buildings is good and there is no damage at all after the earthquake.

Previously, Jokowi and Iriana performed Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijri prayers in the courtyard of the Yogyakarta Presidential Palace, Thursday, July 29. Jokowi also took advantage of the Eid al-Adha moment to greet the people around the Yogyakarta Palace.

After the Eid prayer, Jokowi and his two grandchildren, Sedah Mirah Nasution and Panembahan Al Nahyan Nasution, left the Great Building of the Yogyakarta Presidential Palace to meet and greet the community.

While in Yogyakarta, Jokowi also provided assistance to hawkers in the Malioboro area.

Gempa bumi di Bantul terjadi pada Jumat, 30 Juni, pukul 19.57 WIB. BMKG awalnya mencatat gempa itu berkekuatan 6,4 magnitudo di kedalaman 25 kilometer. BMKG kemudian memperbarui kekuatan gempa tersebut ke angka magnitudo 6.0 dengan kedalaman 67 kilometer.
