Like A Stunting Disease, Illegal Parking Around Roxy Mas Never Disappears

JAKARTA - Illegal parking in the Roxy Mas area, Gambir District, Central Jakarta, is still mushrooming. Although control is often carried out, officers from the Central Jakarta Transportation Agency are still unable to eradicate the rise of illegal vehicle parking.

As seen on Thursday, June 22, the Central Jakarta Transportation Agency again brought down dozens of two-wheeled vehicles in the illegal parking lot shoulder to the Roxy area, Gambir District, Central Jakarta.

"Today we have arranged a motorbike parked on the shoulder of the road in Roxy. We managed to net dozens of motorbikes that stubbornly parked, not in its place," said Head of Central Jakarta Transportation Sub-dept., Haryo Bagus, Thursday, June 22.

Haryo said that generally the owner of the vehicle caught is an employee who works in the Roxy area. However, employees park more on the shoulder of the road because the rates are cheaper than inside.

"We control motorbikes here because according to the rules motorbikes are prohibited from parking on the shoulder of the road. I hope Roxy will provide more affordable rates to employees so that they don't park on the shoulder of the road anymore," he said.

Haryo said that his party would continue to control the Roxy area in order to provide a deterrent effect to motorists. All the vehicles caught were immediately taken to the Central Jakarta Sub-dept. office for a ticket.

"To take the motorbikes, the owners must come to our office. Later there will be the police who will carry out the ticket," he said.

Previously, the problem of illegal parking had also been in the special spotlight by Transportation Expert Azas Tigor Nainggolan. Azas questioned the flow of money from illegal parking income, which is quite fantastic, reaching billions of rupiah in a month. The reason is, illegal parking is still rampant in the capital city.
