MANOKWARI - Manokwari Police, West Papua, managed to arrest one suspect with the initials KSH for hoarding 1,225 liters of subsidized bio solar fuel (BBM) or 1.2 tons.
"The perpetrator was secured by the Satreskrim Certain Criminal Investigation Unit (Tipidter) on July 10, 2023 at around 16.00 WIT," said Manokwari Police Deputy Chief, Kompol Agustina Sineri during a press conference in Manokwari, as reported by Antara, Thursday, June 22.
In addition to the police perpetrators, they also secured evidence of one unit of Toyota Hilux and 35 jerry cans measuring 35 liters which the perpetrator used to buy diesel subsidies at two public gas stations (SPBU), namely the Jalan Baru gas station and Sowi gas stations.
The purchases were made by the perpetrators every day to be accommodated at his home, then they will be sold to one of the buyers in the residential unit (SP) 5 area of Manokwari Regency.
"The perpetrator bought diesel from SBPU per liter of Rp6,800 and sold it at a price of Rp11,500," said Sineri.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Manokwari Police, AKP Nirwan Fakaubun, explained that his party was still continuing to investigate to reveal the involvement of other parties in the case of hoarding fuel.
The police have also examined two witnesses who were arrested in a car with the perpetrator.
"As a result of our investigation, the suspect admitted that it was the first time he had hoarded it. We are still investigating, and later we will also examine the person who wants to buy fuel," said Nirwan.
He explained that before buying diesel subsidized by the government, the suspect first registered through the MyPertamina application.
However, the purchase of subsidized fuel with the intention of seeking personal benefits has violated the laws and regulations.
"Every day the perpetrator buys according to a quota of 60 liters, but the purpose of the purchase is to be stockpiled and resold at a higher price," he said.
The police charged KSH with Article 40 number (9) of the Job Creation Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Amendments to Article 55 of Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas.
"The perpetrator is threatened with five years in prison," said Nirwan.
