BANDA ACEH - A female elephant was found dead in the Karang Ampar area, Ketol District, Central Aceh Regency, allegedly due to poisoning.

Head of Resort VI Takengon of the Central Aceh Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) Saidi, Saturday, said that his party received information on the whereabouts of dead elephants on Friday (9/6) and immediately went to the scene to check.

"The elephant age is about three or four years and is thought to have died a few days ago," Saidi said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, June 10.

According to him, the elephant was found dead in a resident's plantation area and only about 300 meters from the village.

Saidi could not confirm the cause of the elephant's death and had to wait for the autopsy results from the Aceh BKSDA team.

"Now the team is on their way to the location," he said.
