14 Percent Stunting Reduction In 2024 Needs Strengthening Program Synchronization

JAKARTA Expert Staff of the Presidential Staff Office Brian Sri Prahastuti emphasized the importance of strengthening program synchronization from the Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team (TPPS) in the regions, both at the provincial and district/city levels.

So that the interventions carried out are more targeted and on target, and the stunting prevalence target of 14 percent can be achieved.

"Extra work is needed to be able to achieve the target of stunting prevalence of fourteen percent. And one that we think needs to be improved is the synchronization of the program from the Team for the Acceleration of Stunting Reduction in the regions," Brian explained in his statement, Friday, June 9.

Brian said, apart from the problem of synchronizing the program from the TPPS, the achievement of the stunting reduction target of 14 percent is still facing several other strategic problems.

Namely, the lack of budget for specific nutrition interventions, the implementation of the regulatory framework has not been optimal, and the service of Posyandu and family resilience has not been maximized.

For this reason, said Brian, a commitment is needed to strengthen Posyandu, increase the budget allocation of specific nutritional interventions through the provision of local food-based supplements (PMT), as well as the utilization of the Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE).

There needs to be uniformity and integration of the data and information provided, namely through the SPBE. Currently, a lot of information or data is not the same, making it difficult to monitor," explained Brian.

During his field visit, Brian also gave his appreciation to the North Sumatra Province Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team (TPPS). Because it has succeeded in reducing stunting prevalence by 4.7 percent in 2022. He also hopes that the good practices that occur in North Sumatra can be replicated in other areas.

"So this year's stunting rate can drop significantly," he said.

In addition to meeting with the Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team, Brian and the Deputy II team of the Presidential Staff Office also visited a number of locations in the city of Tebing Tinggi. Among them, PAUD Adinda, Posyandu Flamboyan, Teluk Karang Health Center, and the Pane Collection Hospital.

From the visit, KSP found that there were still several measuring instruments such as scales that were not yet standardized. "We (KSP) have asked the local health office to immediately process all necessary infrastructure. Including the need for anthropometry throughout Posyandu and ultrasound equipment throughout the Puskesmas," said Brian.
