3 Suspects Who Burn Mineral Land In Muara Enim, South Sumatra Threatened With 10 Years In Prison Fines Of IDR 10 Billion

MUARA ENIM - As many as three suspects in the burning of mineral land in Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra are threatened with a prison sentence of 10 years and a fine of Rp. 10 billion. Muara Enim Police Chief AKBP Andi Supriadi said the maximum penalty is as regulated in Article 108 of Law number 39 of 2014 concerning plantations and or Article 187 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code concerning land burning imposed by investigators to the three suspects. The three suspects are men with the initials BI (24), FD (32), and DS (41) residents of the Rotan River, Muara Enim. The determination of the status of the three suspects was carried out after investigators from the Muara Enim resort police criminal investigation unit received sufficient evidence which was strengthened through witness and expert statements. "Currently, the suspects have been detained since Wednesday, May 31 evening for further filing with the prosecutor's office," he said when confirmed in Palembang, Antara, Sunday, June 4. According to him, the suspects were caught red-handed clearing mineral land to plant agricultural commodities by burning them in Payakabal Village, Gelumbang District. The suspect's actions were revealed when the Muara Enim Forest and Land Fire Task Force (Karhutla) team found a puff of smoke in the area while conducting routine air patrols, Wednesday (31/5) afternoon. From these findings, the air monitoring team asked the Babinsa, Babinkamtibmas and Manggala Agni personnel from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) to follow up.
