JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) or AP II proposes TransJakarta buses can serve routes to and from Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta) at certain hours in the morning and evening to serve employee mobility.

AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said the number of workers at Soetta Airport was around 40,000-50,000 people working in various agencies such as AP II, airlines, ground handling, government agencies, commercial, and so on.

"Every day these workers move from and to Soekarno-Hatta Airport. If there is a TransJakarta bus, it can provide more choices of transportation modes for airport workers," Awaluddin said as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, May 28.

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi previously held a coordination meeting with the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono and the President Director of AP II to discuss the integration of transportation modes at Soetta Airport.

A coordination meeting was held on the inspection train on the way from Soetta Airport to BNI City Station, Jakarta.

During the meeting, he said, AP II suggested that TransJakarta buses could operate at Soetta Airport at certain hours, for example in the morning at 06.00-09.00 WIB and in the afternoon at 18.0-21.00 WIB as a mode of transportation to leave and return from work for workers at the airport.

Awaluddin conveyed that the TransJakarta bus stop could also be prepared at a special location in the Soetta Airport area or not at the passenger terminal.

"The Transjakarta bus can later be integrated with public transportation specifically for the Soekarno-Hatta Airport area such as a shuttlebus andskytrain to make it easier for workers at airports," he said.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Transportation said that the capacity of public transportation to and from Soetta Airport will be increased and tariffs will also be sought to be more affordable than today.

"We discussed how to increase capacity (public transportation to and from Soetta Airport), how to make a wider reach, and how to make tariffs more affordable for the community," said the Minister of Transportation.

Meanwhile, Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono said that in the meeting there was indeed a proposal from AP II so that TransJakarta buses could operate at Soetta Airport.

"Earlier there was a discussion on the meeting table, there was a suggestion from the President Director of Angkasa Pura II, what if the TransJakarta bus enters (to Soetta Airport) but at certain hours it is easy for employees (at the airport)," said Heru.
