The Fisheries and Livestock Service (Disanak) of Garut Regency, West Java has prepared a special team for animal health to directly check the health and feasibility conditions of sacrificial animals coming from outside the region to ensure that everything is safe for the celebration needs of Eid al-Adha.

"The health checks for sacrificial animals are carried out by monitoring animals that want to be cut, usually in dealers, in cages, in markets or maybe in shelters," said Head of Garut Regency Distanak Sofyan Yani to reporters in Garut, Friday, May 26, confiscated by Antara.

He said that every year the Garut Regency Diskanak must prepare officers and veterinarians to ensure that the sacrificial animals sold on the market are free from disease and are worthy of being used as sacrifices.

The special officer for the health of the sacrificial animal, he said, would start to run effectively seven days before the implementation of Eid al-Adha by visiting every place where the sacrificial animals were sold.

"Intensive checks will be carried out starting from D-7 Eid al-Adha, if checked from now on it will not be effective," he said.

He conveyed that the disease of sacrificial animals that needs to be watched out for is mouth and nail disease (PMK), and there is also a new outbreak, namely skin disease or the Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) virus that attacks cows and buffalo.

In addition to deploying the animal health team, Sofyan also appealed to traders or dealers to always maintain the cleanliness of the cage so that bacteria and viruses do not come easily and can attack sacrificial animals.

"The effective way to prevent disease transmission in livestock is to always maintain the cleanliness of animal cages, besides that it must also be ensured that vaccines and vitamins must be given to livestock," he said.

Sofyan also appealed to the public to always be careful in choosing sacrificial animals, so that they must have an understanding of the health of healthy and good quality animals for sacrifices.

"People are expected to understand safe animals, in our opinion they are healthy, it is certain that the animals do not care," said Sofyan.
