MALUKU - A total of five speed boat passengers who were reported missing for two days were found safe in the Banda Sea, Maluku.

"They were rescued by a fishing boat belonging to PT. Pelabo in Banda sea waters and today was evacuated to Tulehu Port, Salahutu District (Ambon Island), Central Maluku Regency," said Head of Maluku Basarnas, Mustari, in Ambon, Friday, May 26, confiscated by Antara.

Based on a report by the Acting Head of Ilili Village and the Head of the East Seram Regency BPBD Satlak (SBT), the five passengers who were rescued were taken back to their respective homes.

However, Mustari asked the family to be patient waiting for the arrival of the victim who was still on his way home.

"Because the first fishing vessels to carry out the rescue are still continuing fishing, the five people have been diverted to other fishing vessels, but they still belong to the same company," he said.

The five passengers from Illi Village, Manawoka Island, SBT, Maluku, departed from Manawoka Island using a speed boat to Watubela Island, on May 24 at around 10:00 WIT.

However, their whereabouts were unknown and were reported missing by a resident named Sandri Rumanama to the Maluku Basarnas command center.

The report was then addressed by Basarnas by deploying a SAR team using the Abimanyu State Ship (KN) to the scene on Thursday, May 25.

After two hours of travel, KN Abhimanyu was ordered back to the base due to bad weather in the form of strong winds and sea waves which were between 3-4 meters high. But in the end, the five were successfully evacuated.
