JAKARTA - An apartment belonging to the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska has been seized by authorities in Crimea which is "installed" by Russia, said it was part of a wave of nationalization of Ukrainian assets.

The Crimean Peninsula was annexed by Russia from Ukraine in 2014. February last year, Russia launched a large-scale attack on the country, which it said was a'special military operation'.

"Krimea continues to nationalize the assets of Russia's enemies," said Crimea Governor appointed by Kremlin Sergei Aksyonov on social media.

"A number of facilities are being transferred to republican ownership," he continued.

Aksyonov further said the wave of seizures this time included an apartment at the historic Yalta resort owned by Olena Zelenska, the wife of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

He also said that a building in Simferopol City owned by Mejlis - the Muslim minority representative body Tatar Crimea - was also included in the confiscation.

It is known, after annexation of Crimea, Russia banned Mejlis, declared her an extremist organization, and imprisoned its members.

Aksyonov did not provide further details regarding the confiscated other assets.

Earlier, Russian authorities announced a wave of nationalization in February. However, the international community does not recognize Crimea as part of Russia.

Along with his preparations for a massive retaliatory offensive against Moscow forces, Kyiv has repeatedly said they plan to take over Crimea again.
