Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens and BHI of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Judha Nugraha, said the government through the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh would ensure that the two Indonesian citizens obtained their legal rights in accordance with the provisions in force in Saudi Arabia.
"The Indonesian Embassy will accompany the legal process by providing translators, assistance during information and court collection, as well as the possibility of appointing lawyers for case and defense review, especially if cases are categorized as severe crimes," Judha said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 17.
Based on a report by the Sadudi Press Agency, two Indonesian women and one Bangladeshi were arrested in Riyadh for allegedly being involved in the circulation of illegal narcotics of the type of amphetamine.
The Directorate General of Narcotics Control (GDNC) Riyadh has not released the identities of the two Indonesian citizens.
The Saudi government is reported to have taken legal steps against the three perpetrators and referred the case to the General Prosecutor's Office for follow-up.
