The bodies of the victims of the fast motorboat fire in Teluk Wondama Regency, West Papua Province were dispatched to their hometowns in Ransiki, South Manokwari Regency, for burial.

Teluk Wondama Regent Hendrik Mambor led the release of the body of Yoppy Korneles Kereway at the Wondama Bay Regent's Office Hall in Manggurai, Wasior.

"It happened this morning something unexpected for all of us. For me this is very difficult. Because Yoppy's younger brother has been with us for 17 years. Since graduating from high school he came to Wondama and immediately joined us. We moved where he always came with us," said the Regent, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 16.

"We had a meeting and it was decided that everything related to the right of the deceased as ASN would be taken care of by the local government. Because the deceased died while carrying out his duties," he added.

A fast motorboat belonging to the Teluk Wondama Regency Government which will be used to escort the Regent on a working visit to Wamesa and Manokwari Districts exploded and then caught fire while anchoring at the port of Kuri Pasai Port, Wasior District, on Tuesday morning.

The fast boat accident, named Andewini, caused Yoppy to die and two others were injured.

Lewi Mokiri's victim suffered serious burns and is still undergoing treatment at Dr. Alberth Torey Hospital, while the victim Elyas only suffered minor injuries.

Yoppy Korneles Kereway, Lewi Mokiri, and Elyas are state civil servants (ASN) within the Teluk Wondama Regency Government.

The Head of the Wondama Bay Resort Police, AKBP Hari Sutanto, said that until Tuesday evening the police had not been able to conduct a crime scene (TKP) because the boat's carcass was still hot.

Therefore, he said, the police could not conclude the cause of the ship exploding and burning.

"We have not been able to process the crime scene because the conditions are not safe. So while we have just taken information from the victim's witness who was slightly injured," he said.

"From the information in question, the deceased, who died, is suspected of being filling up fuel and then an explosion occurred," he added.

He said that the police plan to conduct a crime scene investigation in the case of the district government's fast motorboat fire on Wednesday evening.
