Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD conveyed that the Money Laundering Crime Task Force classified 300 letters from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center.

He explained that the classification of several letters had been completed, and others had to be followed up with the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance, the Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance, and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"Yesterday, the team from both the director and the executive team and the expert team had a meeting at the PPATK Office, and had reached the stage of data classification or letters issued by the PPATK, namely 300 letters. Some of them can be considered finished. There are things that must be followed up, the follow-up, some go directly to Customs and Excise, to the Directorate General of Taxes, and to the KPK," Mahfud MD said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, May 11.

However, Mahfud could not confirm when the classification and examination would be completed. He said the process took a long time.

"Everything has now reached the classification stage like that. After that, the name is the legal process, it can't be an instant," said the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

Apart from that, Mahfud ensured that the TPPU Task Force would continue to work to uncover allegations of money laundering within the Ministry of Finance worth Rp. 349 trillion. This allegation emerged when he saw the PPATK Aggregate Data on the PPATK Results Report (LHA) for the 2009 '2023 period. The LHA consists of 300 letters, whose value reached Rp. 349 trillion.

"TPPU is now continuing to work," said Mahfud MD.

The government has formed a TPPU Task Force to examine and follow up on allegations of money laundering within the Ministry of Finance since last month.

The TPPU Task Force was formed as agreed in the TPPU KNPP Committee meeting on April 10, 2023 which was then submitted to the DPR through a hearing at Commission III of the DPR RI one day later.
