Inactive NIK Due To Domiciled Outside The City? Here's How To Activate It

JAKARTA - Population Identification Number (NIK) is certainly very important in terms of data administration. So what if NIK turns out to be inactive because the owner lives outside the capital city?

The following is a brief procedure to reactivate the deactivated NIK, as explained by the DKI Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Service (Disdukcapil).

"To reactivate it is not too long. If the stages, in the mechanism, when he finds out he is deactivated, they will come to us. We propose and reactivate the verification for one day," said Head of DKI Jakarta Disdukcapil Budi Awaluddin when confirmed, Saturday.

The procedure for reacting the NIK is that people come to the Disdukcapil service counter in the kelurahan. After that, the officer received, verified the applicant's file, and validated the application to residents' data.

If the applicant proposes to change addresses, the officer will carry out the transfer process after coordinating with the City/Regency Sub-Department for the application for reactivation.

Meanwhile, if the reactivation of the NIK in question does not move or at its original address, then verification or field survey is carried out by signing the minutes.

Then, the data was successfully transferred. Then, at the complaint post, the picket officer will confirm with the Head of the RT/RW for a field review regarding the address of the reporter.

"If the data is not correct, the reporter will immediately transfer the document to domicile at this time. If the data is correct, the village head will make a letter to the Sub-department to be reactivated," said Budi.

Finally, at the activation stage, the City/Regency Sub-Department carried out the reactivation process in accordance with the provisions, and the data was successfully activated.

It is known that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) will temporarily suspend the NIK of residents who no longer live in the capital city in March 2024.

Budi said that until now Disdukcapil DKI has found as many as 194,000 people who no longer live in Jakarta.

However, this number can change along with the verification carried out by Disdukcapil.

Even though the ID card ID card is deactivated, said Budi, the residents' data will still be stored. Residents must contact Dukcapil if they want to reactivate their NIK.

"Actually, turning it off still exists (resident data), but when they use their ID card for BPJS, for banking services, Samsat, the data is not visible, so they have to contact Dukcapil," said Budi.
