BRIN Calls Labor Issues A Political Commodity In The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) assesses that the issues about labor will become a political commodity for the 2024 General Election.

"We see that in 2024 with various general elections such as the presidential, legislative and regional elections, maybe the issue of workers will become included in the political realm. Ahmad said the struggle of workers was the universal language adopted around the world, including in Indonesia. The struggle of workers has been going on for decades and has played an important role in shaping social and political history.

Currently, the labor movement in Indonesia, according to him, continues to fight for better labor rights, including the right to fair wages, safe, safe and healthy working conditions, and the right to association.

"We also have to fight for the rights of migrant workers, informal workers, and female workers who are often still marginalized and do not get sufficient protection," said Ahmad.

Furthermore, he said that BRIN continues to be active in providing perspectives on labor struggles by doing some research and providing insight into the challenges faced by workers and labor unions in Indonesia.

At the BRIN Population Research Center, he said, there was a labor research group and industrial support that carried out several activities related to labor issues.

The ecosystem can cooperate with anyone, including trade unions, trade unions, governments, employers' associations, and other organizations to fight for better improving conditions and labor rights.
