Preparation For Peak Return Flow, Increase Security And Health Officers At All Homecoming Posts

JAKARTA - The Chairperson of the Indonesian Parliament, Puan Maharani, reminded that the implementation of traffic engineering for the return flow of the Eid Al-Fitr 1444 H holiday is carried out as well as possible. She also asked that health workers (Nakes) be increased at homecoming posts considering the potential for a buildup of vehicles at the peak of the Idul Fitri return flow.

"Reflecting yesterday's homecoming traffic, there was still a lot of congestion at a number of points. Especially at toll gates which are the cause of the accumulation of vehicles," said Puan, Tuesday (25/4/2023).

"When there is a buildup, I hope the strategy must be implemented immediately. For example, the application of counterflow or one-way contraflow," continued the first woman who served as Chair of the Indonesian Parliament.

Apart from that, Puan also asked for more security and health officers at the homecoming posts. It is intended that people who experience health problems while traveling can be treated immediately.

"There should not be a shortage of security and health officers at each homecoming post. So that even if people are stuck in traffic jams, they can still get health services if they need them," explained Puan.

On the other hand, the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture reminded people to prepare their physical condition in prime condition when traveling. Moreover, said Puan, Eid 2023 will be a holiday with the largest number of people's movements in the history of toll road operations.

“Homecoming must prepare their physical condition, don't get tired when traffic jams occur. If you are sleepy, it's better to rest for a while," she explained.

Puan also appealed to the people who were homecoming to consider the Government's suggestion to extend the period of return home by taking leave or Work From Home (WFH). That way, the density of vehicles or backflow can be parsed.

"Delaying returning home can reduce the buildup of vehicles and passengers in mass transportation," said Puan.

"The DPR RI also hopes that evaluations will be carried out from time to time so that if problems arise, solutions can be found immediately," concluded Bung Karno's granddaughter.
