Alert, BMKG Reminds Heavy Rain And Strong Winds In Several Regions Of Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency or BMKG has issued an early warning about the weather conditions in Indonesia on Monday, April 24, 2023. Several areas in Indonesia are potentially experiencing heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.

As quoted from the BMKG website today, the potential for heavy rain with intensities of more than 50 millimeters (mm) is expected to occur in Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Lampung, Banten, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, West Papua and Papua.

Areas with the potential for thunderstorms include Aceh, Riau, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, West Java, Jakarta, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, and Maluku.

The potential for strong winds may occur in Aceh, South Sumatra, West Java, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, and South Kalimantan.

Heavy rain in the waters is also potentially happening in the Western waters of Sumatra, Karimata Strait, Java Sea, Southern waters of Kalimantan, Southern waters of West Java-East Java, Maluku Sea, Seram Sea, Banda Sea, Timor Sea, Sape Strait, Arafura Sea, and Cendrawasih Bay.
