Police Implement One Way System Padang-Bukittinggi Line From D-3 Lebaran 2023

SUMBAR - The Padang-Bukittinggi Line will apply a one way system or one direction during the Eid 2023 holiday.

West Sumatra Police Chief (West Sumatra) Inspector General Pol Suharyono said traffic engineering was to overcome the potential for long traffic jams that might occur.

"I, as the West Sumatra Police Chief, said that on the D-3 to D+3 Idul Fitri 1444 Hijriah, we will determine the 'one way system' for traffic routes starting from Padang to Bukittinggi and so will we return from Bukittinggi to Padang through two different routes," he said in Padang, West Sumatra, Friday, April 14, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said the goal of implementing a one-way system was to reduce congestion, which usually occurs on a 92-kilometer path from Padang to Bukittinggi, which normally takes two to three hours if not for Lebaran 2023.

Meanwhile, he said, during the Lebaran holiday, usually trips from Padang to Bukittinggi can take seven to 10 hours because the volume of vehicles is heavy.

"Well, this is what makes the initiative of the West Sumatra Police or the Directorate of Traffic from the results of the analysis and evaluation set a 'one way system'," he said.

He hopes that the entire community will respect and jointly comply with it. "Hopefully the ideas and concepts of the police supported by Forkopimda are respected by the community of road users," he added.

Previously, the Director of Traffic of the West Sumatra Police, Kombes Pol. Hilman, said that the implementation of the one-way system was enforced from 12.00 WIB to 16.00 WIB on the specified day.

"This is in accordance with the trial we did yesterday and the results are quite good and there is an evaluation that we will discuss together," he said.
