JAKARTA - The West Sumatra Tourism Office (West Sumatra) opened a hotline to accommodate complaints from tourists while on vacation in the area during the Lebaran 2023 holiday period.

"We have opened a complaint hotline that tourists can use while on vacation in West Sumatra with number +628116611181," said Head of the West Sumatra Tourism Office, Luhur Budianda in Padang, West Sumatra, Thursday, April 13, as reported by Antara.

He said the local government (Pemda) had taken anticipatory steps to provide comfort for tourists in tourist destinations in West Sumatra during the 2023 Eid holiday.

These steps include placing officers in tourist destinations to provide a quick response in case of problems while traveling such as acts of thuggery or bullying.

Garbage bins in tourist destinations and billboards are advised that tourists dispose of waste in their place as well as to prevent scattered garbage.

Travel destination managers are also asked to prepare clean toilet facilities, if necessary, provide special officers to ensure cleanliness in the facility.

Even though they have taken anticipatory steps, the potential for problems in tourist destinations is still open, therefore the West Sumatra Tourism Office has also prepared a complaint hotline.

"Tourists please take advantage of this complaint hotline," he added.

He said his party would coordinate with the tourism offices in districts and cities to be able to immediately respond to complaints from tourists who entered the prepared number.

"We hope that all the steps that have been prepared can provide comfort to tourists while in West Sumatra," he said.

Previously, the Governor of West Sumatra, Mahyeldi, said that there were three problems that stood out during the Eid al-Fitr 2022 holiday which were used as evaluation material for the 2023 Eid holiday.

The three things include congestion, acts of thuggery and garbage in destinations.

"We have instructed these three issues to be the focus of attention on the Eid al-Fitr holiday in 2023," he said.
