PAPUA - West Papua Police destroyed seven balpres of imported clothing. The destruction was carried out at the KP3 Laut Police Headquarters, Sorong, Southwest Papua, Thursday, April 13.

Kasubdit-I Ditreskrimsus Polda Papua Barat Kompol Wisnu Prasetyo said the destruction of these used clothes was a follow-up to President Jokowi's policy of prohibiting imports of used clothes into the country.

"This extermination action is based on the instructions of the President of the Republic of Indonesia," said Wisnu shortly after the destruction of the used clothes, Thursday, April 13, was confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the destruction of this used shirt was carried out by burning it in a barrel.

According to him, in Permendag number 40 of 2022 it is clearly regulated that imported goods and then traded to the general public are prohibited.

"This has been regulated in the Permendag," he added.

The seven balpres used clothes, he continued, belonged to two residents of Sorong City who were successfully imported from Bandung and Jakarta.

"They brought this item from Pasar Gedebage Bandung and Pasar Senen Jakarta," he said.

He added that the two owners of this used clothing will be used as witnesses to investigate the origin of importing used clothes to the city of Sorong.

"So we will explore this case to find out about the circulation of used clothes from outside Sorong City," he said.

Therefore, he hopes that all people who have already bought used clothes and then sold them, will immediately sell the used clothes and be prohibited from bringing back used clothes from Surabaya and Jakarta.
