TANGERANG The police have appealed to community organizations (ormas) not to ask for donations in the form of a budget as holiday allowances (THR) ahead of Eid. However, in fact, a number of requests are still found from mass organizations to business actors in a number of areas in Jakarta and its surroundings.

This time, a letter requesting money from activities from one of the mass organizations in Pinang, Tangerang City circulated among journalists. In the letterhead, the name of the mass organization is written. Then it appears that the letter of application for activity is listed on the date of submission Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

The contents of the letter are asking for donations to hold events or activities of breaking the fast together to distributing takjil.

"By not reducing our respect, ladies and gentlemen. We intend to ask for the sincerity of donations for the organizing of our event," the letter wrote.

One of the cafe workers in the Pinang area admitted that the request for money under the pretext of Ramadan's activities was not the first time this had happened.

"THR (Hari Raya-ed Allowance) on behalf of compensation," said a cafe worker who did not want to be named.

"If in the past there were groups of people wearing mass organizations, left envelopes, a few days later they would be taken again. But if there were two ordinary young people, they would immediately wait for the envelope," he continued.

Pinang Police Chief, Iptu Hendi Setiawan admitted that until now no victim has reported it. However, he followed up on the circular.

"We will follow up soon," said Hendi when confirmed, Wednesday, April 12.

Hendi asked residents who experienced extortion on the pretext of asking for activity money or THR. So immediately report to his party, for further action.

"We will definitely take action, as long as the victims want to make a report to the police. But if the extortion victims do not report and make a police report, we will always take action against and secure the mass organization group," he concluded.
