Metro Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto Calls The Dismissal Of Brigadier General Endar An Internal Problem Of The KPK

JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto refused to polemic about the removal of Brigadier General Endar Priantoro as Director of Investigation of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

According to him, the matter has entered the internal realm of the KPK. So, he was not authorized to comment.

"That's because it has been between institutions, between the internal KPK itself," Karyoto told reporters, Monday, April 10.

Inspector General Karyoto is a member of the National Police who has served at the KPK. He served as Deputy for Enforcement.

However, KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri asked the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to withdraw him back to the Bhayangkara Corps on the grounds that Inspector General Karyoto and Brigadier General Endar Priantoro get promotions.

However, the National Police Chief asked that Brigadier General Endar Priantoro continue to serve as Director of Investigation. The reason is that the KPK does not weaken in eradicating corruption.

"What is clear is that the Police are committed to continuing to strengthen the KPK. If we withdraw two people, of course, it will weaken the KPK," said Sigit.

As a reminder, Brigadier General Endar Priantoro was respectfully dismissed as the Letter of the Secretary General of the KPK dated March 31, 2023. However, this dismissal became a polemic because the Police wanted him to remain in his position.

The National Police Chief in a letter registered with Number: B/2725/IV/KEP./2023 as of April 3, 2023 maintains or assigns Brigadier General Endar Priantoro as Director of KPK Investigations.

In the reply letter, Listyo conveyed to the KPK leadership the re-handling of Brigadier General Endar Priantoro who carried out his assignment as Director of Investigation of the KPK.

Akibat polemik ini, Endar kemudian melaporkan Sekretaris Jenderal KPK Cahya Harefa dan pimpinan KPK pada Selasa, 4 April. Dia melaporkan keduanya atas dugaan pelanggaran kode etik terkait pemberhentiannya dari jabatan Direktur Penyelidikan.
