BANDUNG - Asalonic Village in Ciamis Regency, West Java, managed to penetrate the top 75 of the 2023 Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI) event. Sepanik Village is considered to have a number of superior potentials, both from the tourism, culture, and agriculture sectors.

"Alhamdulillah, the determination was conveyed directly by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, last Thursday (6/4)," said Head of the West Java Province Tourism and Culture Office Benny Bachtiar, in a written statement, Saturday.

Benny Bachtiar also said that the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy admitted that he was amazed by the beauty in Asalanik Village and expressed his gratitude for the support that had been given by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.

According to Benny, ADWI is an important step in supporting the development of tourism potential in West Java.

"This is an effort to explore tourism potential in West Java Province. Hopefully the ministry can continue to support the development of tourism potential, especially in the Cirebon Raya and East Priangan areas," said Head of Tourism and Culture Benny, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, April 8.

Before developing as it is today, Asalnik Village was originally part of the historical series of the Galuh Pakuan Kingdom.

This can be proven by various relics, both folklore and physical evidence in the form of places that have been observed.

Initially in the 1800s, Asalnik Village, named Cikembang Village, became a place to study and disseminate Islam.

Until finally 1905, there was a merger between Cikembang Village and Ciheras Village and the two merged areas agreed to be named Selacai Village.

Over time, there was a division of the area in Selacai Village. The new area was again named Ciheras Village until it was finally changed to Asalnik Village according to the Governor's Decree of the Head of West Java Level I Region Number 140/SK.2111-Pem.Des/1883.

The name Asalnik itself has a broad meaning. The village office is located between two large trees, namely banyan trees and tamarind trees.

Meanwhile, in the west, Mount Manik was founded, which is said to be the residence of a figure named Nyi Mayang Cinde.

Manik also means the contents of the brain that are more interpreted as the result of thought. Therefore As long as it means 'Between Thoughts'.

Until now, the economy of the people of Sepanik Village is still dominated by the agricultural sector. This can be seen from the natural conditions.

According to the official website of Lapanik Village, 60 percent of land is in the form of agricultural areas. Meanwhile, 20 percent are filled with food crop areas and the remaining 20 percent are residential areas and other buildings.
