If The Great Coalition Becomes Formed, PAN Suspects Determination Of Final Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidates Ahead Of Registration To KPU

JAKARTA - The chairman of the DPP of the National Mandate Party (PAN), Saleh Partaonan Daulay, spoke about the figure of a presidential candidate (candidate) and a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) if a major coalition of coalitions of political parties (political parties) supporting the government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is formed. Saheh suspects that the finalization of the naming of presidential and vice presidential candidates will take a long time until before the registration of candidate pairs (paslon) to the General Election Commission (KPU). Because according to him, the top three political parties, namely PDIP, Gerindra and Golkar, both propose their cadres as a party forum mandate.

"My guess is that later this is the final decision, not now, instead, it will be towards the end of handing over the presidential and vice presidential candidates to the KPU," Saleh told reporters, quoted on Saturday, April 8.

Regarding the assumption about the complexity of determining the presidential candidate in this grand coalition, Saleh said that the art of seeking an agreement would be applied by the party members. He believes that the grand coalition will ensure that no party feels abandoned or lowered. "In the context that everyone does not feel left behind. So yes, maybe a certain party does not carry out its candidate, then how can he feel left behind? Of course there will be special discussions related to it," said Saleh. Saleh, continued Saleh, discussing the responsibilities that will be mandated, the rights, and assignments must be discussed together later.

"This will be in order to get an agreement. Some have been stepped up and some have stepped forward, but nothing has been taken down, no one has been told to step down. That's what is called looking for an agreement to stay together," continued the chairman of the PAN faction in the DPR.

Nevertheless, Saleh emphasized that until now there has been no discussion about the figure of a presidential candidate from the five general chairmen of political parties. Although he said, Gerindra Chairman Prabowo Subianto has the most opportunity to be promoted as a presidential candidate through this grand coalition because of his electability.

"Yesterday the discussion was not yet in the language, it has not finalized one name. It doesn't mean that Pak Prabowo's opportunity to continue to be supported is certain, because Pak Prabowo, I see the survey is quite good, yes, if he surveys are good, of course, people are rational in this context," said Saleh.
