DPR Commission VII Urges KPK To Investigate Alleged Corruption At Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources

JAKARTA - Member of Commission VII DPR RI from the PKS faction, Mulyanto urged the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to investigate alleged corruption in non-tax state revenue (PNBP) at the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. According to him, this is an entry point to dismantle other bigger corruption in the ministry.

"The KPK's move to examine allegations of corruption in bureaucratic performance allowances at the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal is good, especially when it comes to more material matters, such as irregularities in PNBP of coal, nickel, and others. Of course, we don't want the KPK to stop at this performance allowance corruption case," said Mulyanto in his statement, Saturday, April 8.

According to the PKS legislator for the Banten electoral area, corruption practices in the mineral and coal sector need attention because this sector can optimize state revenues. Both through tax and non-tax mechanisms, which in turn can improve people's welfare.

"Previously, the state budget surplus occurred because it was driven by state revenue from this commodity, when international prices increased. Moreover, if a more proportional progressive PNBP of coal is applied, state revenue will automatically skyrocket," explained Mulyanto.

As previously reported, the KPK is investigating allegations of corruption at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources which have ensnared 10 people. It is suspected that alimony was cut and went into private pockets.

The KPK has not disclosed the amount of money deducted in detail. However, it is suspected that tens of billions of dollars were enjoyed by the perpetrators, including for operational costs to support the audit process by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).

In investigating this allegation, investigators from the anti-corruption commission have already conducted a search. This enforcement activity continues to be carried out, including at the Office of the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Office on Merdeka Selatan Street, to the Pakubuwono Apartment, Menteng.
