Press Wild Racing Rates In South Kalimantan, Police Hold Sunday Race Every Sunday

SOUTH KALIMANTAN - Pressing the practice of illegal racing in a number of areas in South Kalimantan (Kalsel), the police held an 'iron horse' rapid battle event entitled Sunday Race.

South Kalimantan Police Traffic Director Kombes Maesa Soegriwo said that young people usually practice illegal racing so that their activities are diverted to official racing events.

"The Sunday Race activity prioritizes education about the dangers of illegal racing and how teenagers respond so they are not influenced by participating," he said in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Wednesday, April 5, as reported by Antara.

Maesa explained that the Sunday Race is planned to be held on vacant land, Satpas SIM or in front of the BPKB service building, Ditlantas Polda South Kalimantan. The official racing event will take place every weekend or Sunday.

He said dozens of teenagers from various motorcycle clubs would be involved every week to jointly celebrate Sunday Race, which is more filled with traffic knowledge and skills.

The police also provide motorcycle driving training such as for the practice of applying for a driving license (SIM) to driving safety measures.

"We hope that the teenager who takes part in the Sunday Race can become a agents of change who educate his friends not to do wild racing anymore and replace them with positive activities," said Maesa.

The Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) of South Kalimantan involved in the Sunday Race invites teenagers who like to rush to be able to channel their talents in this official racing event

"IMI is ready to facilitate if it is serious about wanting to become a racer, we also support the Banjarbaru City Government's desire regarding the circuit construction plan to prevent illegal racing," said South Kalimantan IMI Chairman Edy Sudarmadi.
