Falling From The Ship And Stranded, Fishermen Lost In Garut Waters

The joint Search And Rescue (SAR) team searched for a fisherman who allegedly fell off the boat after receiving reports of an unmanned fishing boat stranded on Santolo Beach, Garut Regency, West Java. Head of Garut Water and Air Police Unit AKP Anang Sonjaya confirmed that there was a fishing boat that was stranded without the crew knowing, so there was a suspicion of falling during the sea, for which his staff immediately conducted a search. "Yes, a fishing boat was found on the beach without fishermen," said Anang, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, April 2. He said that the Garut Police Satpolairud ranks along with other elements were still looking for victims known as M Zet Santono, a Garut resident of Garut as the owner and who carried a ship called Eternal Light. The victim, said Anang, was known that Saturday, April 1 night at around 23.00 WIB carried out fishing activities alone to spread nets in the waters of Santolo. However, said Anang, the ship carrying the victim was seen by other fishermen stranded on the coast of the Santolo area, Sunday morning, while the victim was unknown. The presence of the ship stranded without a crew was unknown, making the ranks of Satpolairud, fishermen, and elements of other agencies search for victims, then evacuating ships to the mainland. "Until now the Polairud Unit and fishermen and the surrounding community are still carrying out sweeps to search for victims," said Anang.

Head of the Bandung SAR Office, Jumaril, said that his staff had deployed a rescue team from the Tasikmalaya SAR Post to carry out the search for victims. The team deployed is equipped with 1 rescue car, 1 set of water SAR equipment, 1 aqua eye unit, 1 underwater search device, 1 LCR unit, medical equipment and personal protective equipment.
