Improved Conditions, 5 Workers Injured In Pertamina Dumai Refinery Fires Allowed To Go Home

Five workers who underwent medical treatment were injured in explosions and fires at the Pertamina refinery in Dumai City, Riau Province, last Saturday have been discharged from Pertamina Dumai Hospital. Area Manager Communication, Relations, & CSR of PT Refinery Pertamina International Refinery Unit II Dumai Agustiawan said the five workers were in good condition so they were allowed to return from the hospital. "They were injured by broken glass and have returned to their homes," Agustiawan told ANTARA in Dumai, Sunday, April 2. The five workers were in the operator's room when the explosion occurred at the refinery on Saturday at 22:45 WIB. "At the time of the incident there were five people who were affected, injured, while in the operator room, and have been taken to Pertamina Hospital for action," he said. Agus denied the news circulating on social media that the explosion and fire that occurred at the Pertamina Dumai refinery caused casualties. He said that the team had overcome the problems that occurred in the compressor gas area at the Pertamina Dumai refinery. "Currently, refinery operations in affected units are temporarily suspended to ensure security at the location, while other units remain operating normally," said Agus. "The exact cause of the incident is still unknown," he said.

He said that the team was still focused on working to ensure the safety of the refinery and conduct checks to record the impact of the explosion on the people around the refinery.
