Kapuas Regent Ben Brahim S Bahat and his wife, who is a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Ary Egahni, have been named suspects in the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). They are suspected of cutting payments for civil servants in Kapuas, Central Kalimantan and accepting bribes from other parties.

"The state administrator in question is one of the regional heads in Central Kalimantan and a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Tuesday, March 28.

Meanwhile, in accepting bribes, Ali has not detailed further. The inspection process is still being carried out.

The State Administrators Wealth Report (LHKPN) submitted by Ben for the 2021 period recorded ownership of assets of Rp. 8,702,133,408. Of that number, he was recorded as having assets in the form of land and buildings in Palangkaraya and West Jakarta with a value of Rp. 2,695,000,000.

Next, he recorded ownership of a 2014 Mitsubishi Jeep SCDTP worth IDR 95 million.

Then, Ben also has other movable assets of IDR 595,000,000. Ben is not recorded to have securities, but he has cash and cash equivalents of IDR 5,317,133,408.

Furthermore, Ben is the Regent of Kapuas who comes from the Golkar Party. He has served two terms in office since 2013-2018 and 2018-2023.
